Question by : What is a polite way to tell my coworker that her breath smells like cigarettes and sardines?
She is a very sweet lady, buy when she opens her mouth around me, I have to hold my breath. It’s a shame. She always has the latest gossip, but I can’t endure the stench long enough to hear it all. How can I broach the subject of her fetid breath so that she may eliminate it?

Best answer:

Answer by DM
Buy some mints and when you hand them to her say “I just found these new mints and find them very effective. Thought I’d share.”Or, tell her directly she needs a mint- especially if you work with the public.Leaving them on her desk would cause embarrassment. Talking with her or sharing lets her know we all have this problem from time to time.
